Markdownify Chrome Extension · Effective May 2026

What Markdownify Does

Markdownify extracts visual design properties (colors, typography, spacing, and border-radius values) from the currently active browser tab and generates a portable DESIGN.md file.

Data Collected

When you invoke the extension, it reads:

• Computed CSS styles from visible elements on the active page
• The page URL and title (used as a label for saved captures)
• Font families, sizes, weights, and colors in use
• Background colors, text colors, and spacing values

How Data Is Stored

All extracted data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. No data is ever transmitted to any external server, analytics service, or third party.

Data Sharing

Markdownify does not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties. There is no telemetry, no analytics, and no network requests made by the extension.

User Control

You can delete all locally stored data at any time from the extension's Options page using the "Clear Local History" button. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data automatically.

Permissions Used

• activeTab – access the current page's DOM when you invoke the extension
• scripting – inject the extraction script into the active tab
• storage – persist preferences and saved captures locally
• downloads – save the generated DESIGN.md file to your computer
• clipboardWrite – copy the generated markdown to your clipboard

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
